Review and Swatchfest: L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation

I am about to run out of the tinted moisturizer I use, so I have been on the lookout for a new foundation. I am usually more of an eye and cheek makeup kind of girl, so I hadn't shopped for foundation in ages (not to mention my last two foundations were hand-me-downs from my mom because they were too light for her...curse you, pale Midwest skin). But, on my trip to CVS last night, the same trip I stumbled across this excellent find, I saw L'Oreal's Magic Smooth Souffle ($16 at CVS) and caved in to temptation.

Picking the right shade is so hard!

Swatch! I was excited to see that this might be the right color...might be.

First off, there has been a lot of hype going around about this product because of the unusual texture. And, when I bought it I didn't really know what to expect. I mean really, putting something called "magic souffle" on your face and expecting great things? I was skeptical.

Let's start with the positives. I absolutely love the packaging! The heavy glass pot made me feel like this was a high end foundation rather than something from a drugstore. And, as skeptical as I was about the texture, it was my absolute favorite part (well, at least when applying)! I wasn't expecting it to be nearly as smooth as it was. I got so caught up in loving the texture that I almost thought I liked the product.

But I don't, and here is why. I never felt like it blended into my skin; It seemed to sit on the surface and look cakey. Another dislike was the way it blended into my hairline (or didn't blend into my hairline). Regardless of how I felt about it before, these are two cons I can't get over.

Unfortunately, this foundation did not pass the test and it will be going back today!
