Review and Swatchfest: NYX Slide On Pencils

In my quest for the perfect eyeliner, I ended up trying NYX Slide On Pencils with the hope that I might find a brand that provided both longevity on my waterline, a creamy texture, AND an array of colors. I had already tried waterproof liners from Maybelline and Cover Girl and neither fit the bill. I didn’t bother with Milani because, despite hearing rave reviews about their waterproof liners, I knew they didn’t have the color range. On to the review!

Overall these pencils are pretty darn good! They knocked two of my three requirements out of the park: they are unbelievably creamy considering the consistency I have to come to expect from liners at similar price points AND they come in a wide range of colors that are very pigmented. Here is some liner love:

Pure white- matte bright white

Golden Olive – a glittery golden-green

Platinum – a glittery silver

Tropical Green – a matte forest green

Azure – a glittery, vibrant aqua blue

Brown Perfection – a matte, chocolate brown

Glitzy Gold – …pretty much gold

The Alright, now let’s talk about why they don’t work for me. Yes, they are creamy. But, it happens that they are SO creamy that they slide right off my waterline and into my eye! For a dry-eyed contact wearin’ girl, this is problem because their waterproof formula ensures that it will stick to my dry contacts and blur my vision until I can take them out and clean them. To be fair, these perform beautifully on my upper lash line. Their pigmentation is unbelievable and their staying power is awesome, but homegirl needs her liner to stay on her waterline and not on her contact. Because I attribute the lack of waterline staying power to the creaminess of the product, others might have the same issue. A tightliner it is not. BUT, if you are looking for the color range and payoff the price is absolutely right at $8 a liner!
