Review and Swatchfest: Tarte Lock & Roll 12-Hour Eyeshadow in Burnt Bronze, Rose Gold, and Moss

One of the things I have been most excited about purchasing this summer are the Tarte Lock & Roll 12-Hour Eyeshadows. They promise waterproof, creaseless wear for 12 hours and boy do they deliver! I can't wait any longer. Roll that beautiful beauty footage.

Aaaaand now that that's out of my system...

I have been drooling over these shadows since I saw them at Sephora at the beginning of the summer. But, with the size of my makeup stash being what it is, I couldn't justify dropping $17.00 on one eyeshadow (even if there are two products in one!). All of that changed when their 20% off red, white, and beautiful sale began (hurry, it ends July 11th!). $13.60 isn't such a bad price...so I bought them and certainly haven't regretted it. Let me tell you why.

These shadows are a dream. They really are crease proof and, as far as sweating off in the summer heat goes, waterproof. The cream shadows are super smooth despite being really shimmery and, when blended out, retain their pigmentation. What came as a shock to me is the pigmentation of the powder! I have had eyeshadows with roller ball applicators before and they leave much to be desired with the amount of product they lay down. Again, these shadows do not disappoint. The powder swatches were the result of two swipes. Two swipes! You can certainly put the powder over the matching shadow for a lovely look, but I would even wear them alone. Another plus with these products is the versatility. Because each unit has two separate products, you can mix and match both within the collection or with your own primers and shadows! You certainly get your bang for your buck.

Now for the wear test:
Before - Inner half: rose gold Outer V: burnt bronze

Without any kind of primer, I put the Rose Gold cream shadow all over the inner half of my lid and the burnt bronze all over the outer v then blended the two together. I then repeated that step with the matching powders. On the waterline is Cargo Swimmables in the bright blue color (a review on those beauties coming soon).

Firs off, pleeease excuse the poor lighting. I just got home from work and had to make it out from a run before dark so moving my light around wasn't in the cards. Even without the lighting though, you can see that this eyeshadow has not budged! Great success.

Would I recommend this product? You bet your sweet mama's cornbread I would. 10/10 for performance and it stuck the landing.
