I have always been in love with the idea of colored mascaras. Unfortunately, I have yet to meet one that has the color payoff I always hope for. Hard Candy’s 1000 Lashes is no exception.

Not only does this mascara promise a pop of color on the lashes, but it has hopped on the fibrous (a.k.a. the “oh my god a spider lost its legs in my mascara!”) trend too. It really doesn’t deliver on either. It took at least 4 coats before I began to notice a hint of color on my lashes and there was nary a spider leg – I mean fiber- to be seen. I was so disappointed with the results that, despite taking pictures of my lashes, I didn’t bother to go through the uploading and editing process because the results weren’t worth it. These were a major fail and that, as they say, is pretty much that.

I have pretty much black hair/eyelashes (technically a level 2/darkest brown, but it's not noticeably different from black until light hits it) and I've found LA Splash's colored mascara to /actually/ show up on my lashes. You can get them at Ulta or Cherry Culture; I've only gotten one shade so far - French Burgundy - but the fact that a *reddish* colored mascara 1. exists and 2. shows up is good enough for me. Plus they're affordable!
