Birchbox Review: Jurlique Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer

This is the last of my September 2011 Birchbox reviews! If you missed the other three reviews or the unboxing video, they will be linked in the bottom of the post so you can check them out if you so desire. On with it...

 Birchbox Breakdown

Jurlique proves that even something as utilitarian as hand sanitizer can be chic. Their luxe formula doesn’t just look stylish; it smells incredible (you’ll actually want to keep re-applying) and moisturizes skin to leave your hands feeling silky. Plus, it’s made from all natural ingredients, which puts it light years ahead of harsh chemical sanitizers. It’s officially time to ditch the Purell.

From the get-go, I knew I would love this product. Weathering the frigid temperature of the Midwest winters does a number on your knuckles. If the weather alone wasn't bad enough to crack them, repeated washing saps them of any moisture they had a hope of possessing. For a germaphobe like me, this is torture. I am not about to touch a University door handle or bus grip without washing my hands or putting on some hand sanitizer afterwards. Winter-time creates a hot-bed of cold and flu viruses, people. Protect yourself. End PSA.

Jurlique promises to help you maintain solid health AND supple hands by killing 99.9% of germs it comes in contact with and moisturizing "Safflower Oleosomes". While the germ killing stat is nothing new, the moisturizing power is. And, while I don't know what "Safflower Oleosomes" are, they give my hands the softest feel without being sticky or greasy (a problem I have had with other "moisturizing" hand sanitizers). The smell is minty and, if I had to compare it to a familiar brand, I would say it is similar to AVEDA. It's a smell that will definitely prove to be awakening and aroma-therapeutic when test-time comes.

Overall, I love this product. The full sized product comes with 5.9 fl oz in a pump dispenser; perfect for having next to the kitchen sink. If you didn't get the birchbox sample size to keep refilling, simply purchasing a small travel-sized bottle at any grocery store or dollar store would enable you to take this on-the-go.

A must-have if you are weathering a dry winter and a might-want-to-try if you are a germaphobe wanting to spice up your sanitation routine.
