Update: CND Shellac Gel Nail Polish Manicure

Over three weeks ago, I got a CND Shellac gel manicure to see if it lived up to the hype of being the mother of all long lasting manicures. In short, the verdict is yes! Below is a picture of my nails on day one.

The picture below was taken on the three week mark.

When all was said and done, I walked away with two chips (one unpictured on the other hand) and the tip of my middle fingernail got a little jagged. But for those nicks, the only limiting factor was outgrowth. The chips appeared at the 16 day mark but because they looked good from afar, I acted as if they weren't there. Frankly, I ended up taking the Shellac off because I wanted a new color. There is something to be said for a polish that you get sick of before it becomes unbearably chipped.

The only downside I found with this is that when I soaked mine off at home (with some acetone I bought at Walmart) I encountered some minor damage to the surface of my nail but that could be because I didn't let the gel soak long enough. But, the damage is nothing that can't be buffed off, so I wouldn't let it deter me from doing it again!

For $25 and a polish that lasts for virtually three weeks (a little less than 16 days if you are a stickler about ships) I am sold! To go from a manicure that lasts, chip free, for around 3-4 days to one that lasts 16+ days is a beauty miracle in my book. Halleluiah.
