Review and Swatchfest: Anastasia Beverly Hills HydraFull Lipgloss in Bellini

With fall slowly turning into winter, a girl has got to look out for her lips. Birchbox gave me a practical, yet luxurious, way to keep lip crust at bay when it introduced me to Jouer's Lip Conditioner. But, odds are, you didn't see the lip conditioner walking down the fall runway. Rather, color was the thing; everything from deep berry to burnt orange. Once again, Birchbox had me covered when it sent a sample of Anastasia Beverly Hill's HydraFull Gloss in Bellini, a pigmented- yet moisturizing- way to keep my lips moisturized and chic this fall and winter.

Bellini - A peach with golden shimmer

As usual, here is the Birchbox Breakdown:
We love high-watt girly glosses because they just make you look prettier. Period. Anastasia’s HydraFull Gloss delivers a mega-dose of high shine as well as bright colors that look great on all skin tones. Best of all, the fantastic formula is good for your lips, fortifying and nourishing them with hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter.

As I'm sure you could have guessed from the intro, I think this gloss really does moisturize like Birchbox claims it does. Rather than reaching for a lip balm when my lips were chapped, I grabbed this little guy instead and achieved the same relief.

While I can't say this for all shades in the HydraFull Gloss range, Bellini was nicely pigmented in that it could easily be sheered out into a subtle peachy-golden glow on the lips, or built up into a bold orange lip. I love versatility in a product and I think the swatches below show the range of coverage you can get.

Somewhat sheered out on my lips.

You may have noticed in the picture of the wand that the applicator isn't your typical spongy doe foot. It's actually a silicone paddle (similar to those used to mix/blend makeup colors pre-application) and this might not be for everyone. The Birchbox team said they love this is it allows for a more precise application. I, on the other hand, don't hate it, but it's definitely not my preferred applicator. I found that the harsher surfaces makes for a streakier application and requires a little bit more work to get an even coat. To me, this is a minor gripe as it's probably something that takes some getting used to, but it is something to be aware of when purchasing!

Final Verdict: Overall, this product is a really great way to moisturize your lips without sacrificing a put-together look. Often times I find that layering lip color over really moisturizing balm cuts down the wear time. This Anastasia Beverly Hills' HydraFull Gloss eliminates the middle man with its pigment and moisturizers!
