Review and Swatchfest: Stila's Living Life in Laguna

Stila's Living Life in Laguna Palette ($14 at Ulta and Sephora) was another one of the goodies I got in the package from my mom. Her spidey senses must have been tingling because before getting this, I was about to go on a mad shadow hunt looking for the perfect cranberry color for the holiday season. As it turns out, I didn't have to look any further.

Stila has quite a few of these palettes out an I have been dying to try one. I have tried one of their shadows and fell in love with the consistency so I expected great things from this palette. Great things are what I got.

As you can see from the picture above, the palette opens up to the product on one side and a mirror and face chart on the others. I love it when brands provide face charts and suggestions for how the product should be worn. Although I definitely don't always adhere to them, it gives me a starting point.

Shadows:
Top left: Sand Dollar - A light, pastel pink with white gold shimmer
Top right: Sunset - A shimmery cranberry (the perfect cranberry)
Bottom left: Cove - A pastel purple with white shimmer
Bottom right: Bonfire - An almost chocolatey purple with light purple shimmer

Face products:
Top: Cheek Color in Seashell - a light pink that is nearly identical to Sand Dollar bu tslightly more purple hued and without the shimmer
Bottom: Bronzing Powder in Pacific Coast Highway - A baby pink powder with subtle shimmer

From left to right: Sand Dollar, Sunset, Cove, Bonfire, Pacific Coast Highway, Seashell

The consistency of the powders in this palette is stellar as usual. Easy to layer, but can be worn relatively sheer, they eyeshadows are very versatile. All of the colors are relatively unique, especially the cranberry, and go together really well. There isn't a matte in the bunch to tone things down though, so it will be shimmer city for those shimmer-shy readers out there.

I was very surprised by the cheek colors. I thought they would be far to light to show up on my skin, especially since I still have a little bit of color left over from the summer. But, I was wrong! Both wore beautifully as blushes, very subtle and would work great for both daytime looks as well as any time you are playing up your eyes or lips at night and need a little somethin'-somethin' on the cheeks.

Verdict: For $14, this is a great little palette to take on-the-go. I can't speak for the other Stila Palettes, but this one had a well chosen group of colors and the product quality was there. And, I got my cranberry! Woohoo!
