Voxbox Review: NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine in Nude York City

Sometimes, I get so wrapped up in brands like "ELF" that have a vast amount of products priced at $1 that I forget about brands staring me in the face every time I stand in my cosmetics isle. NYC New York Color is one of them. I was gently reminded of their reasonable pricing when I received NYC's Liquid Lipshine in "Nude York City" in my free Voxbox.

The NYC website boasts that the Liquid Lipshine contains Vitamin E, so it's moisturizing, and has a non-sticky formula available in 10 on-trend shade. While I can only speak for one of these shades, I can honestly tell you that it adheres to all of NYC's claims and then some.

As the name indicates, New York Nude is a nude shade warmed up with a peach undertone and fairly noticeable sparkle littered throughout. With one coat, the coverage is medium, but it can be layered to create a more creamy, opaque finish.

Unlike most applicators that come with a tube lip gloss, this was longer than a typical doe-foot and more flexible, which I loved. The smell of vanilla cupcakes is another unmentioned perk that keeps me applying it over and over again. As for NYC's claims of moisture and non-stickiness, that it is. I noticed that in the frigid winter wind, this gloss kept my lips surprisingly protected. And, while it looks like a high-shine gloss, it skips the ultra tackiness and goop that often comes along with one. Something else of note is the lack of grittiness that can sometimes accompany a gloss with sparkle or shimmer. Nothing but smooth lips with this gloss. I haven't been to check out the other colors in the range yet, but at $2.49 for .24 fl. oz., you can bet I will. What's more is that these are accessible and can be found in drug stores, dollar store, KMart, Walmart, and Target (and more!).

NYC's Liquid Lipshine is as good as any drug store lip gloss and at a fraction of the price. If you are looking for a way to save a few bucks and still fuel your lipgloss addiction, this is for you!

Review and Swatchfest: Maybelline Color Tattoo By Eyestudio

I'm going to spare you the narrative and cut to the chase. Christmas got merrier when I found these at my local CVS. The Maybelline Color Tattoo line claims to be long-wearing (24hours, to be exact) and highly pigmented. They do not disappoint.

From the left: Too Cool, Bold Gold, Bad to the Bronze

Too Cool is a frosty white with even pigmentation. Bold Gold is a frosted gold, heavy on the frost, but maintains solid pigmentation as a yellow leaning, true gold. Bad to the Bronze is a frosted bronze with great color payoff that is a more neutral bronze, good for both warm and cool undertones. Bold Gold is very similar to Indainwood by MAC and perhaps #11 by MUFE. Too Cool is a dupe for MUFE #4.

From the left: Painted Purple, Fierce & Tangy, and Edgy Emerald
Painted Purple had more of a sheen in contrast to the previous trio that were frosted. It is a blue-leaning purple that I found to have spotty coverage. It tends to pool around the edges of the blending area, leading to a streaky application. Of all of the colors I purchased, this was my least favorite as spotty coverage can't really be worn alone or under shadows. Fierce and Tangy is my favorite for the potential it has. As an exact dupe for MUFE #10, it is an opaque tangerine color with a gold shimmer that isn't overwhelming.Although I don't know that they are safe for lip wear, I couldn't definitely see this as both a lid and cheek color in the dead of summer. Finally, Edgy Emerald is a blue-leaning green with a sheen, but no shimmer.

Overall, the shadows take longer than the higher brand counterparts to dry down, but when they do, they are there to stay. I have the ghosts of swatches past on my arm to prove it. As I said before, the purple was disappointing in it's application, but aside from that, these are a must for anyone looking for a good eye base or dupes for high end cream shadows.

Of the colors I didn't try, Audacious Asphalt is a dupe for MUFE #1, Pomegranite Punk is a dupe for MUFE #17. There was one matte shade in the line called Tough as Taupe that is a lovely grey-brown and an asset to those who value matte shades.

Would love to know if anyone picked some up!

Bauble Bar Steal!

EDIT: A note on their blog indicates that the new member $10 discount cannot be applied to the Buried Bauble. If it is, the order will be cancelled. So far, I haven't had any issues with mine. But, just in case, there is another code you can use to get 20% off your purchase that, to my knowledge, works on all orders: "PSW_get20". When I placed my order yesterday, this code worked (but because using the $10 discount was a better deal, I used that). Just wanted to let you know so that you didn't find yourself without baubles you were counting on!

Hey beautifuls,

I'm taking a quick break from paper writing to tell you about an AMAZING holiday steal I just landed. I was introduced to the company Bauble Bar in my November Birchbox, where I received the coolest bejeweled bauble (to see it, check out my unboxing video), and have been in love ever since. Their website is adorable and their wares are chic to boot. This holiday season they are having what they call "20 Days of Buried Baubles" where you will find that one of their items has been marked down to $10 for the day. Today I was actually successful in finding it, so I picked one up in each color!

That's not even the best part. If you are a new member, you get $10 off your first order AND the shipping is free for the holidays. I just got $64 worth of fabulous Baubles for $10. If you follow them on twitter (@BaubleBar), they will keep you updated with clues about the daily Buried Bobble, so do that!

Today's clue: "We’re wishing for snow this holiday season.  Just one tiny SNOWFLAKE… that’s all we need!  And remember, today’s bauble is a necklace.  The last necklace for the duration of the program!  It comes in two colors…  feel free to snap up one  of each!"

An extra hint: it's on the first page you come to when you go to the necklace section...

Now go! (click here to go directly to the site)

VoxBox Review: Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure

I know what you are thinking. "Press-on manicure?! This is it. Bailey is finally cracking under the pressure of finals. I wore press on nails when I was 10 and then stopped when they fell off five minutes later. That girl has gone cray cray."

Add caption
Well, Judgy McJudgerson, the only thing that's cray cray here is how natural looking and long lasting these nails are. So, let me tell you about them.
