I'm going to spare you the narrative and cut to the chase. Christmas got merrier when I found these at my local CVS. The Maybelline Color Tattoo line claims to be long-wearing (24hours, to be exact) and highly pigmented. They do not disappoint.

Too Cool is a frosty white with even pigmentation. Bold Gold is a frosted gold, heavy on the frost, but maintains solid pigmentation as a yellow leaning, true gold. Bad to the Bronze is a frosted bronze with great color payoff that is a more neutral bronze, good for both warm and cool undertones. Bold Gold is very similar to Indainwood by MAC and perhaps #11 by MUFE. Too Cool is a dupe for MUFE #4.

Overall, the shadows take longer than the higher brand counterparts to dry down, but when they do, they are there to stay. I have the ghosts of swatches past on my arm to prove it. As I said before, the purple was disappointing in it's application, but aside from that, these are a must for anyone looking for a good eye base or dupes for high end cream shadows.
Of the colors I didn't try, Audacious Asphalt is a dupe for MUFE #1, Pomegranite Punk is a dupe for MUFE #17. There was one matte shade in the line called Tough as Taupe that is a lovely grey-brown and an asset to those who value matte shades.
Would love to know if anyone picked some up!

I got Audacious Asphalt and Bad to the Bronze. I was also hoping to find Pomegranite Punk and Fierce & Tangy at my CVS as well but they were already gone :(
ReplyDeleteUpdate: I found Pomegranate Punk and Fierce & Tangy at Target for two bucks less than I paid at CVS! Made me super happy!
