Review and Swatchfest: Loreal Color Riche Blam in Caring Coral & Plush Plum Berry

Due to the coincidental timing of their release, I'm assuming the Color Riche Balm is Loreal's response to Revlon's Lip Butters. Luckily, while there are some similarities, the differences are such that those who weren't fans of the Lip Butters (they existed?!)  might prefer these.

Lip Butters' claim to fame was the combination of moisturization and pigmentation they offer. Some of Loreal's Balms have the same quality, but others are more moisturizing than anything. I unknowingly selected two colors that showcase this perfectly.

The first is Plush Plum.

The top swatch is one that has been layered while the bottom is with just one swipe. Pigmented? I think so. But, I noticed that it isn't nearly as opaque as the lip butters. The sheerness makes them more like glosses rather than lipsticks.

The next color, caring coral, is sheer and more useful as a gloss.

Once again, the top swatch has been layered while the bottom is the color after one pass.

Both colors were moisturizing and provided average wear time. Overall, they are very similar to Lip Butters but the pigmentation isn't consistent throughout the Loreal line and the coverage is more sheer and gloss-like. For those who weren't fans of the opaque pigmentation the butters provided, these might be for you. They provide the sheen of a gloss without having a sticky finish.

Have you tried the Color Riche Balms?
