Review and Swatchfest: Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream

As many of you may know, BB Creams have finally hit the U.S.! It seems as though every brand is coming out with their own version and most seem to have a much wider skin tone range than the Asian brands. You can see a review and swatches of a few BB Creams by Skin 79 did a while ago here. If you haven't heard of them yet, BB Creams are essentially supposed to be your anti-aging/de-wringkle serum, sunscreen, and tinted moisturizer all-in-one. Garnier has made some stellar skin care/makeup product recently (anti-puff roller ball, anyone?) so I was ecstatic to hear they were coming out with an affordable, drugstore BB Cream.

There are two shades available, Light/Medium and Medium/Dark. So, while they don't have the wider range of tones other brands might, it's a step up from the usual BB Cream.

Just from swatches alone, you can see that it blends seamlessly into the skin.
Pre-application
After application
From an application, you can see that any unevenness in skin tone went away and, overall, my complexion warmed up. It's definitely not a full coverage product, but after applying some concealer (some Sheer Cover, actually. The "after" picture in this post is the "before" picture in that review.) the Garnier BB Cream served as a very nice foundation. The finish is dewy so those with oily skin might think twice before trying. But, it's very moisturizing. I typically have to use a moisturizer after washing my face and I didn't notice any dryness or tightness after cleaning my face while using this BB Cream.

The coloring of Garnier's BB Cream is flattering on warm and cool skin tones alike. I had two of my friends (hay C-Nobes & Meg Jeffrieeees!) try it out, both with cooler skin tones than me, and not only did it look natural on both of them, but it warmed their skin up in a "natural glow" sort of way. Needless to say, based purely on the product's performance, both of them were pleased with the results.

However, something not all of us could agree on was the smell. When trying it on my own, I noticed it had a strong scent that wasn't malodorous by any means, just strong for a product you put on your face. And, unlike most products where this is the case, I didn't find that it faded. One of my friends confirmed this and said she found it so strong that it changed the taste of her food while the other didn't notice it at all. Based on this, I would say that if you know you are particularly sensitive to scented products, you should consider avoiding Garnier's BB Cream. If you rarely notice scents, or they don't bother you if you do, this is definitely a product to try as it makes your skin look and feel healthy.

Have you tried Garnier's BB Cream? If not, do you think you will?
