Review and Swatchfest: Sleek Pout Paints

These are more items from the London Haul that, even before I went on the trip, I knew I couldn't  leave without them. Most of the appeal to me came from how they resemble OCC's Lip Tar, notoriously great lip color you can wear alone or mixed with other colors and paint on your lips. Unfortunately, I don't own any Lip Tars so this post won't be a comparison of the two so much as me gushing over Pout Paints. So, buckle up and let's get started!

Colors left to right: Cloud 9, Lava, Pin Up
Fresh out of the tube

Cloud 9 is an opaque stark white, Lava is a true orange, and Pin Up is a blue-based red; none of them have shimmer of any kind. It took every ounce of self restraint I had to not pick up every color in the line, but I managed to narrow it down to these three because of how many practical color combinations I could get out of them. A blue-based red is a classic you should always have on hand, orange will make it a little more summery, and white can give you every shade of pink under the sun when mixed with the red.

The consistency of these is very creamy, thick but not impossible to spread, and they are easily mixed. They maintain their opacity when spread and they leave stained lips behind when the bulk of the product has worn off so the wear time is crazy good.

The only thing that proved a little difficult is that too much product or a haphazard application can leave you wiping misplaced product away only to find stained skin underneath. Things can quickly get out of hand. The trick is sheering the color out on a palette, on the back of your hand, or in a container before application and apply in layers. This is definitely not a product you can apply with your fingers and expect a perfect application; a lip brush will most always be necessary.

Overall these are amazing products, especially considering they are drug store items. If you are looking for versatile, creamy, opaque, and long-lasting lip color that takes a little bit of working with, you should check these out. If you are exclusive to on-the-go friendly products, you might skip them. These are available in Superdrug in the UK and can be ordered from Sleek's website for everyone else.
