Review, Swatchfest, and Comparison: NYX Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner & UD 24/7 Liquid Liner

When I first opened NYX's Collection Noir Black Liner, I immediately saw a resemblance between it and another one of my favorite liquid liners: Urban Decay's 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. The only difference: the texture and $13! The first part of this post will be a review of NYX's liquid liner and the second will be a comparison between the two. Read on!

The precision tip and opaque, inky blackness of this liner makes it an asset in any eyeliner collection - especially that of a wing lover. Although not waterproof, it's very long wearing, and started fading after 8 hours of wear and only in the inner corners. I can't complain though, as someone with dry, itchy eyes, I'm constantly rubbing the inner corners so 8 hours of wear is pretty great. It also means that if you have normal eyes, you might get longer wear! The quality of this liner is sweetened by the $6 price tag. The one downside is that NYX's Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner is the only one of it's kind in the NYX eyeliner collection, so it's only available in black. Still, if you are looking for a great liquid liner with a precision, brush tip. This is absolutely the right price!

On to the comparison! As I said before, there is an undeniable similarity between these two heavy hitting eyeliners. The primary differences are the consistency, size, and price. At $19, Urban Decay's liquid liner comes in .058 fl. oz. portion and a wide variety of different colors. It dries down to a sheen and rather than fading or rubbing off, it flakes off. I get the same amount of wear time with Urban Decay's liner as I do with NYX's, they just wear off differently.

NYX's liquid liner retails for $6 with a .123 fl. oz. (dearly double that of UD's), but it only comes in black.

Bottom line: if you are looking for a good black liner, save your pennies and go for NYX's Collection Noir Liquid Liner. But, when it comes to expanding your color collection, you will have to go elsewhere for the same color quality and wear time.
