Review, Swatchfest, and Comparisons: Smashbox Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Quartz and Gemstone

Ever since their debut this past Spring/Summer, I have been dying to try Smashbox's Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadows. Although I've explained it before, my obsession with cream shadows spurs from their versatility. Some can function not only as shadows that stay for ages, but also as primers, and, depending on the shade, a highlighter as well! Multitaskers are my jam.

The two shades I have are Quartz, a shimmery pink-tinged light taupe with some chunky silver sparkle, and Gemstone, a shimmery chocolate brown with red undertones. In the pot, the amount of sparkle looks the same, but for some reason Quartz reveals way more when swatched and worn.

Speaking of wear, I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone that these really delivered on their 15 hour claim and did so in crease-free and fade-free glory. Despite having shimmer and sparkle, they are very creamy (more-so than Maybelline's Color Tattoos but less than MAC's Paint Pots) and completely dry down to a powdery finish within a minute to a minute and a half of application. That gives me just enough time to use these as a sticky base for powder shadow or pigments as well.

At $19, they are only $1.50 more than MAC's Paint Pots, but have a larger range of color than MAC's permanent line (Idyllic was limited edition). This is great, and worth it, if you find a quirkier Smashbox color that you want to be able to replace later on. Overall, if you have been looking to buy these, do it! They function as well as the best cream shadows on the market and can multitask right along with them.
