Review: Pixi Line Relax Serum Youth Enhancing Pre-Primer

Pixi Line Relax Serum
After receiving Pixi's Line Relax Serum in my latest Birchbox, I immediately put it to use in my daily makeup routine. For the past week I've been testing it out and, while I can't attest to the line relaxing claims, I can discuss a great product to prolong foundation wear, de-puff, and wake your face up. Interested? Read on.

Pixi's Line Relax Serum makes quite a few claims in terms of what it will do to your face including that it "effectively inhibits muscle contractions which form expression of lines." That is a bold statement and, as far as I can tell, not true throughout my use of the product. But, the cooling and de-puffing are very real characteristics of this serum and make it a must-have for my collection.

To start, unlike most primers, Pixi's Serum doesn't have an ultra smooth texture that makes me feel like makeup will slide off my face rather than stay put. As someone who isn't a fan of that feeling, this primer is off to a good start. Once applied, my face felt immediately cooler. The sensation is very much what it feels like to have cucumbers on your eyes, but face-wide. It's very soothing and a great way to wake up while slapping some makeup on while heading out the door in the morning. On mornings when allergies got the best of my under eye area, this primer gently soothed and deflated any lingering puff.

That being said, I'm not entirely sure how this would function as a line reducer since such an action typically requires a little plumping. De-puffing and plumping? How does it know which to do and where? As I said before, I'm not the one to tell you about line relaxing as the few lines i have are minimal and thus so are the minimizing effects seen from this serum. So, if you are looking to use this as a line relaxer, look elsewhere for a proper review regarding it.

Line relaxation aside, I did notice this acting as a great pre-foundation moisturizer and kept my foundation looking more even throughout the day. This along with the unique texture and the wonderful cooling sensation is enough to set it apart from all other primers I have tried.

Pixi's Line Relax Serums can be purchased from Pixi's website for $32. If you sign up for their mailing list, you will get semi-frequent promo codes (the last one to end a few days ago was for 20% off!). Additionally, Pixi is on Hautelook relatively frequently, so you can look for it there as well.
