Review & Swatchfest: Buxom Big and Healthy Lip Cream in Creamsicle

Buxom Big and Healthy Lip Cream in Creamsicle
Buxom's Big and Healthy Lip Cream is the flat and creamy counterpart to their line of Big and Healthy Lip Polish. While both lines offer Vitamins A and E to help sooth and moisturize lips, they also have a pepperminty tingle that comes with plumping glosses. Creamsicle, a shade in the Lip Cream line is described as a "peach sorbet" looks like a peach with strong pink undertones in the packaging. When worn on my neutral-to-warm leaning skin tone, it goes more pink, but the presence of peach is still readily evident.

Any pigmented lip gloss can run the risk of sinking into lip lines and looking uneven. Cream finish glosses are no different, but their texture makes makes it more readily evident - and slightly more ucky looking, when they do. Buxom's Creamsicle runs into this problem, but in a minor way that can be fixed, for the most part, by working with it. Whether or not you want to put the time and effort into doing so is a personal preference, but it can be done!

The staying power of this gloss is above average for a gloss that doesn't claim to be long wearing and stayed for a full three hours (I typically get one to two out of a run-of-the-mill gloss). So, in that regard it is a good gloss. Additionally, it has a deliciously sweet and fruity smell going on the lips and then packs a surprising pepperminty tingle while on. It's really refreshing to find a gloss that plays the plumping card, but doesn't smell like a peppermint or cinnamon factory. What's more is that the minty tingle isn't overwhelming, but is definitely there. I didn't notice a dramatic increase in lip size, but I don't typically notice one with other lip plumping products either.

Something I did notice with this gloss was how soft it left my lips. With Vitamins A and E it's definitely meant to keep them hydrated and this gloss definitely does! At $18 a gloss, this is a decent higher-end route to take as it truly does moisturize and lasts longer than the average gloss. The cream finish isn't the best I've come across in terms of even coverage, but it isn't horrible and the scent is beyond pleasant. If you are hesitant to try a cream finish lip gloss, but are interested in the plumping action and hydration, try Buxom's Big and Healthy Lip Polish for a non-creamy coverage.
