| Maybelline Limited Edition Eyestudio Quad in Cozy Cashmere |
Maybelline has a winning 2012 fall collection and, in addition to reviewing and swatching
three of their limited edition Color Tattoos and
a polish from their limited edition Color Show shades, I have two of the limited edition quads to show you as well.
This was a hard collection to pass up as it focuses on rich neutrals and browns in a big way. The first quad, Cozy Cashmere, is the perfect example of this. With a stellar champagne highlight shade accompanied by a rich chocolate with gold sparkle and two matte/satin shadows - one medium brown with a red undertone and one medium brown that leans taupe - this quad just screams fall. I can't believe this purchase is the first I've tried these Maybelline quads because they really do have excellent quality. All of the shades in both of these palettes are pigmented without primers and glide on smoothly. I don't notice them having an especially long wear time alone (3-4 hours of a "just applied" look), but I typically wear shadows with primers anyway. While the darker shadows tend to have fall out, I would say they are chalky or powdery. I'm especially impressed with the shadows in Cozy Chasmere because they are a perfect blend of textures and can be used to create a subtle daytime fall look or an amped up night look. All of the darker shades lean a little red and, as a result, will flatter warmer skin tones. But the next quad I'm going to talk about, Olive Martini, will cater more toward cooler skin tones.
Olive Martini is one of the most interesting quads I've seen in a while because of the duo chrome shade it has. Despite having a few shadows with this sort of effect, I'm suckered into buying it nearly every time because it's just so gorgeous and unusual. I particularly like the way it was paired with the other shades in this palette because I never would have put a baby blue shade with it on my own. The only downside I see with the palette is the lack of finishes. All of them are very shimmery if not downright sparkly. This might be a bit much for many people's daytime look. But it's ideal for a night on the town! But, I shouldn't mislead you. This palette could easily be used in a daytime look; it just doesn't present as much versatility as a palette like Cozy Cashmere that has lighter, more daytime appropriate shades.
Overall, I would recommend both of these palettes to readers! In fact, I might be on the fast track to purchasing more of these within the permanent line because they are so great. A+!

Olive Martini is quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! That palette was meant for your eyes!
ReplyDeleteWhat brand of lipgloss are you wearing in these pics? I love it! I'm looking for a warmer shade for fall, but nothing too dark. I have the hardest time buying lipgloss/lipstick!
ReplyDeleteI managed to buy cozy cashmere but I hardly want to use it because I feel it will hit pan I was wondering if the reddish brown resembles brown script by mac and the last cholate brown swiss chocolate :)
