In the Influenster unboxing I posted yesterday, I briefly mentioned some of the changes the site has undergone since receiving my last box, but I want to go a little more in depth in case there are those of you who are unfamiliar with the program and want to learn more. Recently, Influenster underwent a makeover and relaunched in September. Those of you who are already members will retain membership and can log in to adjust your profile while those without profiles will need to be invited. Looking for an invite? Go to influenster.com to submit your information!
Once invited, you will have the opportunity to earn badges in areas in which you are influential. Much like Klout, Influenster has switched to a scoring system to gauge how influential you are. By taking surveys, you will discover you score and earn badges in both Expert and LifeStages categories. Rather than lumping all of the badges together, the new Influenster has divided the two and added a few more Expert badges, including "Sweet Tooth", "Debonair", and "Pop Culture". The LifeStages category may be new, but the badges are familiar and include "Collegiate" and "Blushing Bride".
Once you have qualified for five badges, the maximum amount you can for the time being, you might become eligible for the many boxes Influenster sends out a month. Once you have taken the qualification survey, you have the opportunity to receive a box! Once in your hands, you have the opportunity to use, play with, and share everything inside your box as well as complete tasks corresponding to each product. While that isn't new to the program, once you complete your tasks, your score will increase accordingly.
In terms of the difference I have personally experienced, the user interface is very slick. Besides that, the qualifying process isn't much different. One thing I thought was interesting was that, in spite of feeling like I spilled by life story by completing all of my qualifying surveys, I still received product that didn't suit the qualities I specified in my profile. For instance, when there was an option to receive one of two products - a product for curly hair versus a product for straight hair - I received the product for curly hair. I'm not complaining by any means, I just wonder how much of the surveys filedl out actually dictate what is received in a box.
If you haven't checked out the new Influenster, you should! If you are looking for an invite, make sure to get on the list so that you too can get boxes of goodies tailored to your interests.
