Review & Swatchfest: Too Faced Holiday Collection Color Confections

Too Faced Color Confections

The Too Faced Color Confections palette contains eight eyeshadows, three lip glosses, and four face powders all packaged in a cute bon bon box. Half of the shadows are warm and, unlike the Book of Love and Spun Sugar palette, include some color, while the other half are cool taupey greys with a light, frosty pink. The shadows on the neutral side were overall smoother, more pigmented, and easier to work with, but the cool side wasn't awful. The only shade I felt was a let down was the pink shade that ended up looking like a frosty white with dodgy coverage. There are two matte shades, a cream and matte brown (great for crease work and eyebrows). Coupled with the ultra shimmer in some shadows and satin finish in others, there is a fair amount of variety in the finishes.

Despite not liking the close proximity of the lip glosses to the powder products and the lack of protection, the lip glosses are pretty great. A light frosted champagne, cream-finish medium mauve, and frosted berry pink are the lip gloss shades included and not only complement both the warm and cool sides of the palette, but also provide a shimmery shade to dab onto the center of the lips to create the illusion of added fullness. Like any gloss, they aren't long wearing, so having them potted makes it a pain because you can't reapply them later unless you dart thing thing around with you all day. Still, they are pretty and relatively moisturizing.

The face powders include two bronzers, one matte and one shimmery, and two blushes, one is a shimmery light peach and one a shimmery light pink. When you open this box up, you are immediately greeted with the sweet smell of chocolate you will be familiar with if you own the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. It's delicious and one of my favorite parts of this palette. The other bronzer is slightly darker with gold shimmer. I wouldn't say either of these bronzers would be good for medium-dark skin tones, so this palette is limiting in that regard. The blushes are fairly pigmented and apply evenly and, while they aren't anything terribly unique, they complement the shadows included well.

The last thing I wanted to point out about this palette was the packaging. The makeup itself is housed in a removable black tray so you can reuse the cute exterior to store bits and baubles. Meanwhile, the product pans are easily removable so you can put them in a Z-Palette or MAC palette if you want to save space. Big thumbs up for utility and versatility!

You can find the Too Faced Color Confections palette exclusively at ULTA for $29.
