Review & Swatchfest: Youngblood Mineral Radiance in Splendor

Youngblood Mineral Radiance in Splendor

Youngblood Mineral Radiance in Splendor is an assorted cluster of shades made with mineral powder to be used on your face or body. Of the four palettes available, Splendor is full of shades that look more like something you would use as a blush - but don't be deceived! I've used it on more than one occasion to contour, blush, and highlight. While all of the shades look shimmery in the pan, one is borderline matte and another is almost satiny the shimmer is so subtle. Starting from the left in the swatch picture below, there is a terra cotta shade with an orange-leaning matte base and subtle gold shimmer, a duo-chrome light peachy-pink with heavy gold shimmer, a nearly matte berry shade, and a light champaign shimmer.

All of these shades lay beautifully - they are smooth, pigmented, and apply evenly. They've lasted all day in every trial I've put them through. And, with the variations in shade, undertones, and finishes, this palette covers nearly all of your face makeup bases. The berry and terra cotta shades are great for subtle contouring while the duo-chrome shade functions nicely as both a blush and highlight. Speaking of highlight, the shade in the center functions well not only as a cheek highlight, but wears well on brow bones, eye lids, the bridge of the nose, and the colar bone area. In addition to the individual shades, mixing and matching is always a possibility, so there are a number of different looks you can achieve with this palette. In short, this palette has it all (and a nice big mirror to boot!). The packaging is sturdy and is held together by a magnetic clasp that stays shut during travel.

With both warm and cool shades, this palette works well for both summer and winter, and everything in between. This is a palette that can serve nearly any purpose, so I consider it well worth the price tag ($43).
