NYX New York Color Sparkle Eye Dust in Golden Champagne and Bronze Shimmer

NYC has repackaged their Sparkle Eye Dusts with seemingly more convenient wand applicators! As one who purchased her fair share of the old pigments with potted packaging and a weird excuse for a brush, this was a welcome change! While the formula feels the same, the new pigments have doe-foot applicators and come in a tube similar to the Bare Minerals High Shine Eye Colors.

The shades I purchased were Golden Champagne, which is is exactly the way I would describe its color, and Bronze Shimmer - a deep bronze with a tinge of burgundy. Like I said before, the formula is the same, which means the fallout that came with old packaging is back. This time, it has a vengeance. When you pull the wand out,  air gets sucked in and pushes stray pigment clumps out and flying everywhere. Still, the doe-foot applicator makes it much easier to build pigment despite the fact that it falls everywhere in the process.

Each pigment applies well and blends out smoothly while retaining a somewhat bold color. While you can't smooth the product out using the applicator without creating a mess, they are easily blended with brushes. If you want to bypass the applicator altogether, lightly swipe a brush against the applicator and apply directly to your eyes for maximum pow. In addition to functioning well as eyeshadows, pigments can also be used as facial powders, lip color, nail polish, and body shimmer depending on the medium they are mixed with. These are versatile little guys and for $2.99, that's not a bad deal! You just have to be prepared to deal with significant fallout. Plus, the packaging is a definite upgrade! I purchased mine at KMart, but you can find NYC products at Target, Walmart, and some drugstores.
