Review & Swatchfest: BFTE Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadows in Winter Blue, Riddle, Isis, Beautiful, Tropical, Spring Fever, and Meteor Shower

BFTE Cosmetics Pigments

BFTE Cosmetics Pigments
I first heard of BFTE Cosmetics through Phyrra and the many posts she's done on looks and swatches with their products. I was finally convinced to place an order when I saw her top 6 favorite tutorials of 2012 she did with BFTE Mineral Eyeshadows; I couldn't get over how bold and pigmented every shade was. At the time, there was a $1 sample sale going on, and I took it as a sign (as I do most sales). Best. Sign. Ever.

For starters, $1 goes far with BFTE. I thought I would receive sample bags which, while they aren't bad, also aren't often good for much more than a light dusting over the eyelid. These are pots filled with enough product to get you through more than a few looks with each. While each pot is $2 full-priced, I would still say it's worth it. The shades I purchased were:

Isis: a burgundy that runs copper when swatched dry.
Tropical: a grass green with subtle baby blue duochrome.
Spring Fever: An ultra pale lilac with gold duochrome.
Winter Blues: Turquoise with multifaceted blue and gold shimmer.
Meteor Shower: Deep grey with pale blue, green, and yellow shimmer running throughoutl
Riddle: Tan with an antique gold/green shift.
Beautiful: Frosty pale yellow.

Each shadow was smooth, applied evenly, and, as is most often the case with loose shadows, very pigmented! Worn alone (without primer or foiling), these shades were lovely and lasted slightly longer than most pressed eyeshadows I've tried. Worn wet, nearly every shade transforms into the super hero version of itself and blows your socks off (see look below). If you are a pigment newbie, don't let loose powder intimidate you! It can be very versatile and gets easier to work with once you've had some practice. The shades I picked might seem a little off the wall, but I chose what I did to make sure I wasn't duplicating shadows I already had in my collection as well as get a feel for some of the more unique-sounding shades within the line. There are absolutely shades within the (extensive) collection that are great for creating neutral, everyday looks.

Overall, two thumbs way up for +BFTE Cosmetics  Mineral Eyeshadows! Not only would I recommend the shades I purchased, but I know I'll be placing another order soon to see what else the line has in store.
