Review & Swatchfest: Maybelline Vivids Color Sensational Lipstick in Vibrant Mandarine

Maybelline Vivids Color Sensational Lipstick in Vibrant Mandarine
Nothing has made me long for summer more than seeing the Maybelline Vivids display on drugstore shelves! What's more: nothing has made me happier than the fact that all of the bright makeup I bought last summer won't go to waste. Score.

Maybellin's Vivis ColorSensational Lipstick collection is all about the brights. What's great about this collection is that it's someone unique as far as limited release collections go. Bright colors are nothing new, but it's hard to find near florescent shades on drugstore shelves and Maybelline has managed it. Last summer, they came out with a similar collection - Exotic Escape - that featured sheer bright hues. This year, they added a little zest and a lot of pigment! Vibrant Mandarine is just as it sounds - an ultra bright orange with slight pink undertones. The opacity is out of this world and it staines the lips so even when the creme finish wears off, the color is still there for up to 5 hours.

The only pitfall with this was the smell. This has a distinct "lipsticky" smell while last years has a pleasant fruity aroma. While it's not a deal breaker for me, I know some are sensitive to smells and taste.

For $7, this is a must-have for me and I intend on going back for more! Considering how bright and, well, vibrant this is with such great color payoff, I think it's an excellent drugstore deal, even if it will only be around for another season. A+ from me!

  1. Love this on you! I'm jealous, I wish I could pull off orange colours. I picked up Shocking Coral and love the colour on me, it's the closest I can get to an orange hue.

  2. I so want to try these because I love bold and bright lipsticks, but the "lipstick smell" is a big turn-off for me. :/
