Review & Swatchfest: Sephora + Pantone Universe Color Charged Graphic Lacquer in Emerald

Sephora + Pantone Universe Color Charged Graphic Lacquer in Emerald

I've featured quite a few emerald items since the official announcement from Sephora and Pantone Universe that it's the 2013 color of the year, but none of them have been THE emerald shade. That all changes today with this review of the Sephora + Pantone Universe Color Charged Graphic Lacquer in Emerald

When I think of emerald, images of a somewhat deep gem tone comes to mind - not necessarily the shade Pantone and Sephora chose to embody their color fo the year. This could be due to gem tone fixation that has hit beauty and fashion alike for the past few years, fooling everyone into thinking that emerald is a blackened green shade. In fact, emerald is supposed to be light, bright, and have a slight blue tint. To me, Sephora and Pantone have captured this perfectly in their Emerald nail polish.

The formula is nice and thick, so you only need two coats to get solid coverage, yet drying time is minimal. In terms of wear, I found it lasted longer than the day or two most polishes fare on my nails. I only noticed minor chipping on my tips on the 3rd day!

Set to release for a limited time in March of 2013, the nail polish will retail for $10 and I think it's worth it. It's a tad pricier than drugstore polishes like Essie or OPI, but I think it performs just as well, if not better!

Will you snatch up this emerald polish while you can?
