theBalm Balmbini Palette Vol. 2
The Balmbini Palette Vol. 2 is the perfect combination of eyes, lips, and cheeks all in one central location. Unlike the original incarnation, Balmbini Vol. 1, Balmbini Vol. 2 has 5 shadows rather than three, a lip and cheek cream in place of two blushes, and a lip gloss.

Starting at the top, Promiscuous Pearl is a frosted champagne highlighter shadow similar to Mary Loumanizer, and Jinxy Jasmyne is a matte black shadow/liner. Promiscuous Pearl has a smoother consistency, but Jinxy Jasmine isn't bad for a matte shade! Both are pigmented and long wearing and Jinxy Jasmine, in particular, only took one swipe of a liner brush to achieve an intensity opaque enough to line with. Easily the best powder liner I've come across!

The next level down contains the shadows - Manic Maribel, Open to Offers Olwen, and Lavish Latoya. Manic Maribel is a really warm gold with a hint of copper, Open to Offers Olwen is a true teal, and Lavish Latoya is a blackened grape shade. All come together to create a zestier color combination than was offered in the last palette, but all perform just as well - smooth, creamy, pigmented, and long-wearing.

The final layer contains the lip and cheek shades that I'm not entirely happy with. The lip and cheek cream in strawberry is a pink-leaning coral that has a drier consistency than most lip and cheek products. While I found it applied inconsistently when I used my fingers, it blended in beautifully over cream and powder products when I used a small stippling brush. It doesn't last long on the lips, but stayed all day on my cheeks. The lip gloss in nude was the real disappointment here. It was dry, hard to work with, and didn't have the lustre I expect form a gloss. The color choice, however, was perfect to contrast the bright combination going on up top. I just wish the product itself had been better!

Still, to dislike only one product out of the whole palette is hardly a let down! For $28, this palette is a steal and keeps your makeup needs covered from your eyes and cheeks, to your lips. I think those that like more neutral colors will love the the Balmbini Vol. 1 palette, but Vol. 2 is great for the more adventurous (although the look below shows that the colors can definitely be sheered out to create a more subtle look). Sometimes you can luck out and find these on Hautelook. Otherwise, you can purchase the Balmbini Palette Vol. 2 from theBalm's website.
