Review & Swatchfest: Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful Glinda Palette

Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful Glinda Palette

Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful Glinda Palette
Urban Decay's Oz The Great and Powerful Glinda Palette is one of two new releases from the brand. The other product, the Theodora palette, is full of neutral, sultry shades that I feel are easily dupable within my collection, which is why I chose to go with its lighter, brighter counterpart!

Each palette comes with 6 eye shadow pans with 8 shades due to two split pans, a half-sized 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil liner, and a full-sized Super-Saturated High-Gloss Lip Color for $49. Rather than making the shades stationary in a traditional palette, they used they new create-your-own palette that allow the individual shadows to be popped in and out taken around individually (provided you have the individual casing). The compact contains a nice, large mirror that's actually functional when applying makeup.

Tornado is a deep, metallic grape with an ever so slightly blue-purple shimmer. Aura is one of two split pans that contains a blue-purple duo chrome reflect and a light pink reflect (both in a white base). Magic is a baby pink with gold duo-chrome. Illusion is a light peach that I would consider more satin than shimmery. Oz is another slipt pan with a cooler gold that has chunky silver glitter, and a metallic silver. Finally, South is a light, metallic taupe that is slightly less silver than Pistol from the Naked 2 Palette. All of these shadows were smooth, pigmented, and packed major lasting power (as is typical from Urban Decay). While many aren't fans of the large glitter in the gold side of Oz, I didn't find fallout as a problem when wearing it. One thing some might find to be a drawback is the lack of matte shades in the palette.

The 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Rockstar is a deep plum and, as with the rest of the 24/7 line, it stayed like mad throughout wear. The pigmentation with one swipe wasn't quite as impressive as other shades I've tried within the line, but with another swipe or two it's bold and opaque. Fortunately, the consistency is super creamy so it's easy to layer up.

This was my first experience with the Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color! Glinda is a medium nude with slight shimmer. The consistency is thicker than a lip gloss, but thinner than a lipstick and, while the pigmentation is opaque, I wouldn't call it high gloss (more like a balm). While I had to reapply this multiple times throughout the day, it's not short-lived by any means. Overall, I wasn't impress with this product, but I would be curious to try more shades from the line because of the way people rave about them.

Overall, I would recommend this palette to anyone who asks. The shadows have great quality, the shades are unique and complement each other well, and although I wasn't impressed with the lip color, it is a great staple shade. With everything included, this palette is worth over $150, yet you pay only $49. What's more is that you can use the palette to house any other single shades you may buy from +Urban Decay Cosmetics in the future! The only thing you need to figure out is whether or not you are a good witch, or a bad witch.
