Review & Swatchfest: Pop Beauty Pop Paint Duet in Gilded and Gleam

Pop Beauty Pop Paint Duet in Gilded and Gleam

Pop Beauty Pop Paint Duets are versatile liquid shadows meant to be worn sheer, layered, or under shadow. Gilded and Gleam is a duo with a frosted, cooler light yellow on one end and a shimmery green-leaning medium bronze on the other. Both have chunkier shimmer that's emphasized when the product is sheered out, but more subtle when layered.

Both shades are smooth and creamy with minimal texture from the shimmer. Both are easily blended with a finger, but my favorite application method was with a brush. Once applied, the pain duet dries to a powder consistency. The instructions say to apply both over a primer, but I was feeling gutsy and decided to wear the two shades alone. I'm pleased to say that I didn't experience creasing or fading over the course of 10 hours! I didn't personally like the way a sheer application looked, but it didn't take long, or very many layers, to get it looking opaque and more metallic) rather than chunky and sparkly. Both also functioned well as color bases for powder eyeshadows.

The packaging is convenient and contains doe-foot applicators that work well given the creamy consistency fo the product. Compared to other drugstore products that serve a similar purpose, this duo might be considered steeply priced at $24. But, considering you get two shades with versatile functionality and proven quality, it hits that mark for a brand I consider to be a tier above drugstore products.
