Review & Swatchfest: Rimmel Glam'Eyes Quad Eyeshadow in Green Sapphire

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Quad Eyeshadow in Green Sapphire
Given that this is the year of Emerald (which has really just turned into a green frenzy), I'm shocked I haven't reviewed Rimmel's Green Sapphire Glam'Eyes Quad! With three shades of green, this palette has quite a few shade choices for a drugstore quad.

From the top, going counterclockwise, there is a shimmery light champagne, a deep shimmery sapphire, a medium khaki green, and a blackened sapphire. These shades swatched relatively poorly considering how rich they look in the pan - it took quite a bit of layering to achieve the pigmentation below. The shadows aren't particularly smooth, but not particularly grainy or rough either and they blend out with relative ease. Given these subpar qualities in swatching, I was surprised that they created a look I love! Gratned, the green tones tended to fade into more of a smoky grey(ish-ness), but they performed decently when put to practical use. The lasting power was typical when worn over a primer, flying past the 10 hour mark.

With smoother shades and better color payoff coming from other drugstore brands, this is not a must-have palette. Given enough time and powder-packing, however, and you might be able to get the pigmentation seen in the swatches. Otherwise, you can end up with a somewhat neutral look that is neither green nor grey(ish), but pretty nonetheless. I'm glad I got this in the 50% off sale from CVS, because I think I would have been disappointed in the color payoff if I had paid full price.
