Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Sunny Citrus

Like it or not, brights are back for the spring and summer! Whether it's a strip of bright liner along the lash line or a neon lip that gets mistaken for a reflective road crew vest, there are no rules. I'm most excited because that gives me a reason (more than just my compulsion to try all the makeup) to try and share the brights I love.

Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Sunny Citrus is a deep orange with a hint of red that keeps it on the more wearable side. It's creamy and opaque, with ingredients like Vitamin E & C to nourish during wear. When applied, it goes on smoothly, tugging only minimally and needing only a swipe or two to reach maximum opacity. It has a cream finish, so while it doesn't have even so much as a hint of shimmer, it isn't completely matte. I find this texture to be more forgiving on dry or mature lips. It slightly stains the lips so even when the texture and full opacity wears off (at about 4 hours for me), there is still an orange stain to keep you going for another 2-3 hours or so, which is pretty long wearing on me.

At $15, it's priced in line with MAC although you get .03 oz. more product and the quality is just as good. The packaging is a nice, sturdy tube that snaps shut to keep it secure during travel. And, although the color indicator isn't as close to the actual lipstick color as I would like, it serves its purpose when you put it among a lot of other tubes in a drawer or lipstick holder. Overall, I recommend Mary Kay's Creme Lipstick in Sunny Citrus as not only a fun color for summer, but a good quality lipstick for those who like bold, opaque, long-lasting, cream finishes.
