Review & Swatchfest: Lorac Pro Palette

Lorac Pro Palette

Although it seemed like a quiet release, since its debut on makeup shelves Lorac's Pro Palette has almost reached Naked Palette status as a must-have in your eyeshadow collection. Given my experience with the buttery shadows in the Bejeweled Day & Night Palette, I can't say I was surprised. Needless to say, it was high time I gave it a go!

The Pro Palette contains 16 eye shadows - 8 matte and 8 shimmery. The large ratio of matte to shimmer makes this palette unique from the get-go because palettes typically contain only one or the other. All of the shadows have a similar smooth consistency that could almost pass for a cream texture, which is especially hard to come by when it comes to matte shadows. Because of this texture, some have accused the palette of being too powdery. I prefer this texture over the dry, chalky alternative that often comes with mattes. Despite some of matte shades looking uneven when swatched, they function well when worn and working with the smaller surface area of the eye.

In terms of a shade range, Lorac's Pro Palette does a great job at offering both warm and cool shades as well as both light, mid, and dark tones. The one shade that was a little bit of a let down was the matte black. It was smooth and blends easily, but isn't a pitch black as I would have expected. Worn over the primer that comes with the set, I get 10+ hours of wear without fading or creasing.

At $42, the Lorac Pro Palette is among the more affordable "nude" palette out there and you get 4 more shadows than in the Naked Palettes. In addition to the unique, creamy texture these shadows have, the split between matte and shimmer make this a huge draw to those that like to really downplay their look during the day and go wild with shimmer (and a little bit of glitter in the shade Champagne) at night. The value for the money is there, so if this seems like something you would like I would consider it a must-have.
