Review & Swatches: Jesse's Girl Masquerade Eyeshadow Palette

Jesse's Girl Masquerade Palette
Jesse's Girl Masquerade Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition eyeshadow palette that I picked up while I was at IMATS last weekend! When I first came across it, I wasn't overly impressed with the packaging, so I initially passing it up. It wasn't until I went back to the Jesse's Girl booth and picked up some JulieG nail polishes that I took the time to swatch it and the full impact of the eyeshadows inside took effect. What was ultimately a $5 palette turned out to be 30 fun, good quality shadows.

To start, all of the shadows are shimmery. None of them have chunky glitter or sparkle, but they certainly aren't matte either. Each is very smooth and minimally powdery. A few shades take a little more time and working with to get pigmented color, but Sam (from Sammy's makeup corner) recommends using a little MAC fix+ to do the job. The look I created below was done using only primer - not foiling. I was impressed!

The shadows are separated in rows according to color grouping. The first row houses jewel tones along with grays. The second has blues ranging from baby blue to a medium-dark periwinkle. The third row contains a range of greens. The fourth is full of a wide range of purple shades, while the fifth tackles the yellows and oranges. Last, the sixth row has all of the pinks and reds. The only thing this palette doesn't have are earth-toned neutrals like brown, nude, or taupe. Not a total loss for someone with neutral palettes or shadows elsewhere, but something to keep in mind if you are looking for neutrals.

For $4.99, I really recommend this palette to anyone looking for an affordable, colorful addition to their collection. The only downfall is that it's limited edition, so you need to get it while you can! If, like me, you don't live near a Rite Aid, you can pick this up on the Jesse's Girl website before they are gone.
