Review & Swatches: ELF Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California

ELF Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California

When I initially tried ELF's Baked Eyeshadow Palette in New York nearly a year ago, I was overall impressed with shade range and versatility of such an affordable palette. Since then, ELF has released three more baked palettes - one of which I received in my recent Beauty Bundle: ELF Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California

This light, earthy palette contains loads of light, shimmery neutrals along with some deeper shimmery smoky shades and a surprise matte that performs shockingly well! All 10 shadows can be used both wet and dry, providing versatility more so where the lighter shades are concerned. While some of the lighter shades were relatively unimpressive as light dustings of shimmer across the lid when worn dry, all of them perked right up when mixed with a medium like water or a setting spray.

For $10, this is a beautiful neutral palette that keeps pulling of anything from a polished everyday neutral look to a vampy nighttime look affordable. The deep satin/matte chocolate brown provides a great texture variant among the shades, but one thing I would have liked to seen was a light matte shadow. Still, at $1 a shadow, this palette is a steal and I recommend it for the neutral lovers out there.
