Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation...

...vs. Match Perfection Foundation - A medium coverage foundation, Rimmel's Match Perfection is a liquid foundation with medium coverage. On average, it lasts just above 8 hours on my combination skin, only wearing off in my t-zone. The glass bottle makes it hard to dispense and presents some hygiene issues.

...vs. Clean Finish Foundation - This light coverage liquid foundation has a similar lasting power as the Match Perfection, but comes in a glass bottle with a paddle - making it slightly more hygienic if you apply to the back of a clean hand first. Overall, this ended up developing shine at around hour 6 for me.

...vs. Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation - With heavy coverage on par with that of the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse foundation, Lasting Finish has a slightly thicker liquid consistency, but isn't by any means a mousse. When too much is applied, it can get a tad cakey, but the lasting power is the best of all the Rimmel foundations I've tried.

The verdict: Although it doesn't take the cake for longest lasting in the Rimmel foundation family, it's pretty darn close. Rimmel's Stay Matte Liquid Mousse gives a great soft-focus effect that appears to blur fine lines and keep my combination skin matte all day. Granted, I haven't tried it in the sweltering heat of summer, but worn unset and unprimed it help up beautifully. Given the (assumed) price, how it applies without being drying, or appearing cakey, it might be the best true matte drugstore foundation I've tried!
