Beauty Book Club: The New Braiding Handbook

Braiding is a trend that isn't going anywhere fast, and I don't mind one bit. When time is short, and you want something more than a basic ponytail to complete your look for the day, a simple twist, braid, or knot is the perfect way to look put-together with minimal effort. The New Braiding Handbook ($10.78) is full of ideas that have gotten me through a few mornings when I hit the snooze button a few too many times.

Written by YouTuber Abby Smith, the book is full of step by step picture tutorials that require skill levels of all sorts. Not one with a huge knack for braiding, I was ecstatic to find that a large portion of the book has looks created using twists or a topsy tail! Check out two of the looks from the book I re-created below. These were the two that came out closest to the originals, however there were a few that I ended up attempting, but had to adapt to fit my clumsy handiwork. No matter what, I was pleased with the result, and it took me out of my normal hair routine! I definitely recommend this for the up-do-lover who want some new inspiration, as well as the casual braid (or twist) enthusiast that wants to get in on the trend.

Abby has produced a few other books that I'm now tempted to get after having a chance to experiment with this one, but I'm trying to work through as many styles in this book as I can in the mean time. Where do you get your up-do inspiration?
