Review & Swatches: LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints

Right around the same time Too Faced released their Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks, LA Girl launch a similar-looking line called Glazed Lip Paints. Although I'm a little behind the power curve when it comes to reviewing and comparing the two lines - better late than never, right?

LA Girl's Glazed Lip Paints are $4 individually, and sold online (and select drugstores, although I haven't seen them in person until I purchased them at The Makeup Show). The range consists of 6 bright, highly pigmented shades:

  • BabyDoll - Cool baby pink with a light purple undertone.
  • Blushing - Medium mauve
  • Pin Up - Blue-based red
  • Bombshell - Bright pink with purple undertones
  • Coy - Deep orchid
  • Hot Mess - Medium orange

The line contains cooler shades for the most part, and all shades have a cream finish - so sparkles or shimmer. Each lippie acts like an ultra-pigmented liquid lipstick with a high-shine finish. The texture is a very smooth, thick gloss texture that dispenses easily through the slanted plastic applicator. Given the consistency, a lip brush could make application easier for those who tend to dispense too much product. Despite how pigmented they are, the lip paints don't stain the lips for any serious length of time. Once the glossy finish wears off, the pigmentation goes with it, making frequent reapplication throughout the day a must. Still, once they are on the lips, they look stunning and leave them feeling slightly hydrated and stimulated from the minty formula.

As long as you are conscious of the formula's wear time, these are wonderfully affordable liquid lipsticks. I would love to see an expanded shade range given how narrow it currently is!
