Review & Swatches: Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette

If you're on their mailing list, you'll know that Tarte sent out an email with a product sneak peek a few days ago. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I instantly purchased it without giving it a second thought. What could have compelled me to make such an impulsive purchase, you ask?Well, pretty much anything, if we're being honest. But I was particularly quick on the click this time because Tarte debuted their first all-matte palette! While the email promo was short-lived, and the palettes are no longer available for purchase anymore, they will re-launch their brand new Tartelette palette in the Spring. I wanted to give you a quick review, along with some looks, so you would know whether or not this palette is for you when the time to buy comes back around.

For starters, this palettes retails for $44, and includes 12 shades - each of which are arranged in rows according to color family. On the top row, there are warm-leaning browns. The middle row holds safe pinks and plums. And the bottom row contains cooler-leaning neutrals. Together, they create a subtle neutral palette, with a hint of color. While having both warm and cool shadows makes this a versatile palette, I wish there was a little more variety among the browns. Still, the shadows themselves are smooth, pigmented, creamy, and apply evenly - something that is especially unique among any matte shadows, no matter the price!

Overall, I would recommend this palette to the hard-core neutral matte lover. It's definitely a safe selection of shades that can create some beautiful looks, as well as act as matte face powders (check out the video for more on that)! For those looking for more variety, but still want to stick to mattes, I recommend the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette, or the Naturally Pretty Celebration Palette. Additionally, there's the Stila In the Know Palette!

EDIT: Now, you can get the Tartelette Palette for $36, including a dual-ended brush, for just $36 on QVC until 1/31/2015!
