Review & Swatches: Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Color

Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Colors

Wet n Wild's new Velvet Matte Lip Colors are some of the latest matte lip colors to hit drugstore shelves. At $3.49, they are also some of the most affordable from the drugstore. I picked up some of the more unique shades that stood out to me on the shelf - check them out:

DJ Doll: Medium poppy
The Stand Out: Pastel lilac
Plumgenue: Medium plum

I hate to say it, but these were a bit of a miss for me. Of the three shades I tried, I found each lacked the pigmentation I expected - especially after having tried Milani's Moisture Matte Lipsticks. Although it's not something I mention in my video review, it's pretty clear in the photos below that they aren't completely matte. I would say they fall into more of the satin category. While they apply smoothly, I found it took a lot of layering to get the pigmentation seen below.

It's not all bad news though! If you don't mind the subdued pigment, and don't like it when lip products stain the lips, these might be worth checking out. Bonus: those who don't like artificial scent or taste will love these too! I didn't catch a whiff of anything when wearing these.

Final thoughts: while not for me, some might appreciate the way these wear. And at $3.49, you don't have to break the bank to find out if they are for you!
