The 3-Ingredient smoothie perfect for lazy days (or every day)

I've never been a smoothie person. The prep work has always seemed daunting and time-consuming, and they've never kept me as full as my typical quick morning go-to, oatmeal. But as I've gotten back into focusing on health and fitness (i.e. "Wedding Day Wellness" has kicked into high gear), I've been experimenting more with combinations that fit my routine and lifestyle. Basically, I need something quick and easy that doesn't leave me hangry at 10:30 in the morning. Enter the 3-ingredient smoothie:

What's inside:

  • 1/2-3/4 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1 cup frozen mixed fruit (I buy a pre-mixed variety from the frozen food section)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
Protein powder is the secret to feeling and staying full throughout the morning - especially if you start the day with a workout. It's the first thing to go into the blender, otherwise I find it doesn't get thoroughly mixed in with the rest of the ingredients. After that, you can toss the rest in as you like and mix things up for about a minute.

Using frozen fruit creates a pretty thick, shake-like consistency. If you prefer something a little thinner, add more almond milk or try fresh fruit instead!

What's your go-to lazy day smoothie?

Elcie Cosmetics Micro Silque Foundation Review

I feel like I've gone foundation crazy lately, but I think the buck stops with Elcie Cosmetics Micro Silque Foundation. After seeing Jaclyn Hill feature it in her June Favorites video, I knew I had to give it a try. She loved it not only because it wears beautifully on her skin, but as a makeup artist she would use it in her kit for every client/skin type. It didn't hurt that she also has a 10% off coupon code (Jaclyn10) to take this $45 foundation down to $40.50.

Elcie Cosmetics Foundation offers coverage that's buildable from medium to full. It has a thicker consistency that dries down to a demi-matte finish without looking to heavy. I think it's most comparable to Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in coverage and feel, but the Too Faced foundation offers a little more hydration, along with a more dewy finish. That being said, I think Elcie's demi-matte finish is what gives it slightly more longevity than the Born This Way Foundation, and makes it better suited for any skin type.

The lasting power with this foundation is pretty stellar. My first time testing it was while visiting my family in Charleston, SC - in 90°F+ weather with 80% humidity. It was rigorous, to say the least. I was very impressed at the end of 8 hours, and continued to be when I brought it home to continue testing. I see the most wear down the center of my face - an expected side effect of having a combination skin type. But it remained intact elsewhere, and was better at keeping redness at bay throughout the day than Too Faced Born This Way Foundation.

Overall, this foundation is a HUGE win for me. It definitely lived up to Jaclyn's recommendation. I would suggest it to anyone interested in a medium/full coverage foundation with a semi-matte finish, and some serious lasting power.

butter | LONDON Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons Review + GIVEAWAY!

butter | LONDON Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons

Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons are the latest lippies to come from butter | LONDON, and they promise to do it all - literally. Each crayon promises lots of pigmentation, a high-shine finish, full coverage wear, and a sharpener built into the lid to boot. There are 8 shades available within the line:

Tea With the Queen: Nude
Trout Pout: Bright salmon peachy-pink
Toff: Deep fig
Teddy Boy Disco Biscuit: Medium mauve
Primrose Hill Picnic: Light candy pink
Ruby Murray: Bright hot pink
Lady Bird: Vibrant red-orange

I was equally impressed with all shades when it came to application and lasting power. Each shade requires one pass to get the opacity and pigmentation seen below, and all feel like butter when they glide on the lips. Speaking of texture, despite their creaminess, they don't sink into fine lines, bleed, or lay unevenly on chapped lips. In fact, I've skipped over balm and reached straight for these on days when my lips were in particularly bad shape, and was happy to find that they're just as nourishing, but you don't have to sacrifice color payoff.

Overall, these are major wins in my book! They're flattering, nourishing, easy to apply, and easy to sharpen. Enter to win all 8 shades below!
